Apply by Nov 19th for Producing Digital Content diploma

Students on the NFTSProducing Digital Content and Formats diploma course have created a new interactive video for the BBC’s experimental BBC Taster site. The video Laid Bare is an entertaining interactive guide to the best and worst of social media with eight tips for success covering selfies, stalking crushes online, dating, Snapchat and Tinder.

It was produced by Joana Nunes and Pav Janda after the BBC challenged students on the Digital Content course to come up with creative ideas on how to engage more women on BBC Taster- an experimental online space where the BBC trials and develops digitally native content and formats - (see full list of student and tutor credits below).

Asked what she hoped viewers would gain from the video, Joana Nunes said: “Ultimately we’d like people to be entertained, but also to become more aware of how much impact social media has in their lives. We don’t want to lecture them, but rather to offer them an insightful, fun experience that they will remember.”

All of the students on the Digital Content course had the opportunity to brainstorm ideas and pitch these to the BBC who chose the Joana’s concept. The other students were all involved in creating the final product, which uses a built in interactive video platform Interlude (https://interlude.fm/).

This project is just one of the opportunities that students on the Producing Digital Content diploma course have to develop their ideas, pitch them to broadcasters and other professionals in the creative industries.

Joana says she believes the project will help boost her career in future: “It's great to have produced something that’s got the BBC Taster team's seal of approval. Being able to have Laid Bare placed in a destination that's already known to people interested in digital projects is definitely helpful too.”
