A student on the NFTS’ Producing Digital Content & Formatsdiploma course has been snapped up by Sky Sports before he's even graduated. When student Pav Janda, aged 27, graduates from the NFTS course next February (2016), he will be stepping into a three month ‘paid internship’ at Sky Studios, London, working in the digital media team on Sky Sports.
Sports fan Pav says the job is a dream come true: “If you’d asked me a year ago where I would most like to be working, I would have said at Sky Sports. I’m a huge fan of sport especially cricket, tennis and football. I’m really happy.”
Pav’s paid job follows a successful month-long internship at Sky Sports, in July, which is part of the course in Producing Digital Content and Formats. He gained experience in the digital media team creating content such as online taster videos promoting the new football season and celebrating the Premier League, and writing social media to promote the Ashes.
“It was great to see how Sky Sports works, the process and to see people’s roles within the team," says Pav. "I found it really interesting and it reinforced my belief that I want to work in digital content on sports programmes. The course has given me the space to develop ideas and experiment. It has also given me the skills and support I needed to feel prepared when I went on the work placement at Sky Sport. And it has opened doors for me to meet a network of people in the industry. I’ve really enjoyed hearing all of the guest speakers."
