The NFTS was delighted to have a Masterclass with double Oscar and BAFTA winning director Sam Mendes whose films include American Beauty – his feature debut for which he won a Best Director Oscar, Jarhead, Road to Perdition, Away We Go and Revolutionary Road as well as two 007 James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre.
Speaking in conversation with NFTS Head of Producing Chris Auty at the Dolby Screening Theatre, Sam Mendes spoke about his transition from acclaimed director of the Donmar Warehouse theatre in London to award-winning Hollywood director, as well as producer and executive producer on films.
He answered questions from students about directing actors, screenwriting, music scores and visual and special effects and spoke about the importance of giving a film shape and rhythm.
