Students on the Games Design and Development MA course have just showcased their projects at EGX, the UK’s biggest gaming event attended by over seventy thousand visitors

Over four days, the students provided demos of their graduation projects to the public, media and industry professionals garnering feedback that will prove invaluable to the development process.

The games on show were:

Betwixt by Sam Browne. Lost in the snow, a young outcast stumbles across a nearly forgotten secret, and the old man who guards it. A game for PC centered around the collection of sounds and creation of songs.

Filly the Kid by Ellie Silkstone. Set in the American Old Wild West with a twist: you’ll be trading in your spurs for hooves, as you play as Filly, a young horse with a mighty big score to settle.

Between Us by Joshua Unsworth. Explore the mystery of London at night as two strangers come together for an adventure across the city.

EGX was a fantastic learning experience. It was an unparalleled opportunity to have the public, including journalists and developers, play our games and give criticism and feedback. There's plenty to take away and it was also really enjoyable," said Josh Unsworth.

Keyframe by Kai McGilligan Oliver. Set in an strange art gallery, you play as a mysterious curator whose choices literally frame the path of one man's life forever. Kai said: "The high production principles of the games our course exhibited shone as something special, something we couldn't have achieved without the help of all that have been part of the MA (tutors, graduates, partners and fellow classmates alike). More than that, it was the inclusiveness and cultivated sense of establishment in the industry that made my time at EGX feel like I had 'arrived' (at last!) as a games designer. Very proud to hold the NFTS banner at this event."

Also in attendance on the NFTS Games stand were indie developers, and graduates of the Games course, Rich Metson and Pontus Schonberg from Semaeopus Ltd. They showed the great progress that they’ve made on their game ‘Off Grid’.

Visitors to the stand were also able to play a favourite from last year, Pixel Ripped. Developer Ana Ribeiro was unable to attend as she’s currently in Silicon Valley, San Francisco as part of an accelerator programme to develop the game further.

Jon Weinbren, NFTS Head of Games said: “We’re always really pleased to give all our second year students this unique opportunity to show their games to the industry and public at this enormous, boisterous, crazy and wonderfully well attended expo. The feedback on the projects from players of all ages and the guidance from fellow professionals is invaluable. See you next year, EGX!!”

You can see these NFTS Games projects at GameCity, which runs from 22-31st October.
