5 NFTS ALUMNI & STUDENT FILMS QUALIFY FOR 2015 OSCARS

5 NFTS Grads Crowned Broadcast Hotshots

Two films made by NFTS graduates and three NFTS student films have qualified for 2015 Oscar consideration!

Live action short films The Chicken, directed by graduate Una Gunjak, has won the Best Live Action Short Film award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and Room 8, directed by graduate James W Griffiths, won BAFTA Best Short Film award this year.

NFTS student film Sleeping with the Fishes, directed by Yousif al-Khalifa, has won the BAFTA Best Animated Short Film award, Beach Boy, an NFTS documentary directed by Emil Langballe won Best Documentary at the Tampere Film Festival 2014 and The Bigger Picture has won the Grand Prize at Hiroshima International Film Festival.

These films will now be considered for 2015 Academy Awards in the Best Short Animation, Best Short Documentary and Best Short Live Action categories.

in addition, 5 NFTS graduates have also been named BROADCAST HOTSHOTS by Broadcast Magazine - the UK's leading publication for the television industry. This prestigious accolade annually recognizes the best up-and-coming talent in the UK’s television industry and, this year, has been awarded to 66 talented under 30-year-olds. These include NFTS Directing Fiction graduate Lewis Arnold, Production Management graduate Georgia Orwell, Directing Documentary graduates Adeyemi Michael and Jack Warrender and Cinematography graduate Maja Zamojda.
