Tutors from the NFTS– the world’s No.1 international film school - will be delivering four talks and an Open Day at the Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival taking place in Bristol from 16th to 21st September 2014. There will also be a chance to see two NFTS films in the NAHEMI programme and in competition
Encounters is the UK’s leading short film and animation festival, in Bristol, and the annual meeting place for filmmakers and industry professionals. The NFTS was recently named No.1 film and television school by The Hollywood Reporter and voted the world’s best school by CILECT– the international association of main film and television schools.

This is followed on September 17, 18 and 19th with by talks led by NFTS’ Head of Games Design and Development Jon Weinbren; a keynote speech delivered by NFTS Director Nik Powell exploring the role film festivals; a masterclass, led by NFTS Head of Post Production Dean Humphreys on the use of sound to develop storytelling practice, and an NFTS Panel discussion led by NFTS Head of Producing Chris Auty on The Business of Convergence.
The NFTS programme is part the Encounters Festival Industry Forum– an intensive three-day forum offering high-level networking opportunities designed to connect filmmakers to the industry - that includes BAFTA; LFA; CMIR, Creative England; British Council, Nexus (Interactive); Rovio; LUX; the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and Touch (Music). Reflecting the industry trend towards multi platform working, the Industry Forum takes place within a wider Encounters 20th anniversary programme which will give delegates the chance to celebrate, reflect on and explore the past, present and future of short film.
