3 NFTS Films Selected for Sheffield International Docs Fest

Three NFTS films have been selected for the 2014 Sheffield International Docs Fest – one of the world’s leading documentary film festivals.

The School has two films in competition in the Sheffield Student Doc Award section: Honey On Wounds, a film by 2014 NFTS Directing Documentary graduate Iulia Stoian (Director/Producer/ Cinematographer) about war widows in Kosovo who start bee keeping as a means of alleviating social restrictions, depression and poverty, and Love Me Tender by Tim Knights (Director/Cinematographer) and Vera Simmonds(Producer/Editor) about the lives of three young men living in a British coastal town. https://sheffdocfest.com/articles/173-films-in-competition

In the Sheffield Green Award section, the NFTS and the Bertha Foundation present Ecoside: Voices from Paradise, a film by NFTS 2011 graduate Juliet Brown which exposes the impact of one of the greatest ecological disasters in recent history and its impact on local lives. http://sheffdocfest.com/films/5598

Honey On Wounds is also one of 7 NFTS documentaries being shown at the Krakow Film Festival 2014. The other films are: Dylan by Ania Winiarska, After and Brother both by Lukas Konopa, Sing Your Heart Out by Peter Akar, The Bridge by Mara Trifu, The Cleaners by Kostas Georgoussis.

The screenings are part of a 3 hour presentation by the NFTS for a British Documentary Market 'Focus on UK'.

Lukas Konopa's graduation film Vegas was also in the short documentary competition at this festival. 

In addition, an NFTS Head of Documentary Dick Fontaine is showing his recent film about Jazz musician Sony Rollins - Beyond the Notes
