Production Design students have teamed up with Year 2 Digital Effects students to create a stunning short space film as part of SFX/VFX MA workshop. The project, titled 'Terminus,' tells the story of a sleeper in a space probe being unexpectedly woken on her journey through the universe.

Directed by Oli Nedwell and produced by Chris Chidlow, the production design students designed a model space set, with a miniature model spaceship and shot the short story using a motion control camera.

Following a day spent at Mark Roberts Motion Control learning about the different kinds of camera rigs, they then spent 5 weeks at Leigh Took's workshop at Bray Studios building the miniature and the model sets. Meanwhile an NFTS Production Design student built a life-size set of the inside of the space ship for the actor. They then spent two days shooting on the TV Stage with a Talos Motion Control Rig with an Arri Alexa camera.

Pictured is the actor inside the model space ship and the crew (including industry model-maker and art director, John Lee) with the Production Designer’s Pod.
