24th June, 2016: Presenter and comedian, Mel Giedroyc is to host this year’s National Film and Television School annual fundraising Gala, which has a ‘Great British Women’ theme and is sponsored by Ingenious, the biggest independent investor in British film and television.
This year’s Gala will be held on June 28th at Old Billingsgate, London and is set to be a dazzling celebration of the success and achievements of women across the creative industries.
Mel says: “It’s a real honour to host this year’s NFTS Gala and celebrate the work of British women in the television, film and games industries. I am actually very familiar with the school and its ethos as my husband, Ben, studied there; I would often visit him and particularly loved the on-campus beige, carry-on caravan that was there for students to stay in if they had a long shoot!”
Nik Powell, NFTS director says: “We are extremely grateful to Mel for hosting the Gala; she is a fantastic ambassador for women in the film and television industries and will be an excellent host for us on the night. It’s fantastic that she has a connection with the school and we look forward to hearing more of her anecdotes on the night!”
All funds raised at the Gala will go directly to the NFTS - a registered charity - to support the school and help it invest in the next generation of talent whatever their gender or circumstances.
