An NFTS graduate, Claire Dodgson, has edited the top grossing film of 2015 - the animation film Minions - which has just crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, a rare feat for an animated film.
The film is only the third animated title in history to hit that mark, while Universal becomes the first studio to boast three billion-dollar babies in a given year. The movie, from Illumination Entertainment and Universal, has grossed $321.9 million domestically and $682 million internationally to become the No. 3 animated film of all time and the top grossing of 2015 to date, not accounting for inflation. This milestone also marks the first time any studio has had three films cross $1 billion at the worldwide box office in a single year.
Minions is a spin off from the box office hit animation film Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, which Claire Dodgson was also involved in as additional editor and associate editor. her other film credits include The Lorax and Charlie and Lola.
She is just one of the many graduates from the NFTS Editing MA course who have gone on to work on major Hollywood and independent productions for film and television.
