An NFTS student documentary has been selected for the Oscar-qualifying Hot Docs film festival, one of the most prestigious documentary film festivals on the world.

The film Territory is a warm and lyrical film about the territorial tendencies of the two primate species - people and monkeys - who share the Rock of Gibraltar.  The film received industry applause when it was screened at the BFI Southbank, London, in February.

This is a fantastic achievement for the talented director Eleanor Mortimer who graduated from the NFTS Directing Documentary MA in February, 2015. She will now see her film screened at the prestigious  HotDocs festival held held in Toronto, Canada between April 23- May 3rd.

Territory has also been chosen for the International Short Film competition at Cinema du Reel held at the Pompidou Centre, in Paris at the end of March.

NFTS Head of Documentary Dick Fontaine said: “We are very proud of this witty, cinematic film. We want to encourage different approaches to the form, alongside investigative and social observational documentaries.”

Eleanor was also the film’s Co-Producer and Cinematographer. For a full list of credits and to view a Trailer visit our NFTS Screening Room

To find out more about the NFTS’ unique DIRECTING DOCUMENTARY MA course come to our OPEN DAY on April 15th.

APPLY for the Directing Documentary MA course by MAY 7, 2015. The NFTS also runs a SUMMER DOCS course starting in July, 2015. Apply for this course by APRIL 9.
