The Wellcome Trustis offering financial support for one PhD-level biomedical scientist to undertake a two-year MA at the NFTS in Games Design & Development, Directing Fiction or Screenwriting.
The Trust's research shows that the overwhelming majority of the public regards television as their most significant source of information about science. It believes that the broadcast media should represent and reflect all areas of science and culture, and therefore should be produced by people from a variety of different backgrounds. It aims to increase the crossover between science and the media and to enable bright, articulate and motivated scientists to explore careers in the broadcast, games and film industries. The award will pay for tuition costs plus a grant to cover basic living expenses for the duration of the studentship.
The studentships will only be awarded to applicants who have a confirmed place on the NFTS course of interest. After the application deadline, a shortlist of candidates for interview will be drawn up, with interviews taking place in late July.
The deadline for applications to Screenwriting and Directing Fiction is May 7, 2015 and Summer 2015 for Games Design and Development. If you are interested in making an application, please contact Dr Jon Wardle - Director of Curriculum and Registrar - by email jwardle@nfts.co.uk.
