NFTS Graduate Wins Sundance Documentary Prize & Other Grads Involved in Award-winning Films

Congratulations to NFTS graduate Kim Longinotto who has won the Directing Award for World Cinema Documentary for her film Dreamcatcher at the Sundance Film Festival  - and to the many NFTS graduates who worked on three other award-winning films.

Kim Longinotto’s film Dreamcatcher about a woman on a mission to disrupt the cycle of neglect, violence, and exploitation endured by girls and women in inner-city Chicago, also had NFTS graduate Nina Rice on the crew as Sound Recordist.

In addition, Dark Horse directed by Louise Osmond and shot by NFTS graduate DoP Benjamin Kracun won the Audience Award: World Cinema Documentary; NFTS graduate Jonny Persey was the Executive Producer on How to Change the World, directed by Jerry Rothwell, which won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Editing; 3½ MINUTES, directed by Marc Singer and edited by NFTS alumni Gideon Gold and Emiliano Battista, won the  U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Social Impact and the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic was awarded toSlow West, which included Richard Flynn & Ivor Talbot as Sound Mixers and the Foley Editor was NFTS grad Dario Swade. Also in competition was Strangerland - Co-Writer by NFTS graduate Michael Kinirons.

In the Shorts programme were six films directed by or involving 22 NFTS graduates, including the winner of the European Film AwardThe Chicken, directed by NFTS graduate Una Gunjak, produced by Jelena Goldbach with DoP Matthias Pilz, Sound Mixer Raoul Brand, Digital Post-Production by Giacomo Matteucci &  Belgin Kaplan.
