When the NFTS asked Louise Brown (Channel 4’s former head of digital) if she’d like to create an exciting new course training a new generation of people to Produce Digital Content & Formats, she jumped at the chance to involve some of the leading lights in multiplatform TV production.
Senior Tutor Louise Brown and fellow tutor Kim Plowright (BAFTA, International Emmy for D-Day: As it Happens) created a dream team advisory board including: Matt Locke (Storythings), Rosie Allimonos (You Tube), Anthony Rose (Zeebox), Martin Trickey (Head of Digital, Warner Bros TV Production), Jody Smith (Channel 4), Justin Gayner (Channel Flip), Kat Hebden (Fremantle), Jon Aird (BBC Comedy) and Emma Lloyd (Sky).
“It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together a dream team of talented people who have been at the cutting edge of producing digital platforms for television programmes such as Got to Dance, Million Pound Drop, The Voice, X Factor, Misfits, Big Brother and Embarrassing Bodies,” says Louise Brown.
“With the help of this top Multiplatform talent from the UK and beyond, we're hoping to breed a new generation of talent that can learn from these current shows and past experiments and create the future ratings hits, BAFTA winners and revenue generators.”
The 12 month diploma course (starting in January 2015) gives you the skills to build and engage audiences around films and television programmes online that are hotly in demand.
“As content proliferates and attention shifts and fragments, film and TV production companies need people who can maximise their presence online. This means you need a talent pool of people who can produce both content and design new forms of media,” adds Brown.
The diploma is supported by Sky TV who are also offering two Sky Academy Scholarships. The course will be delivered both at the NFTS in its historic studios and at Sky Studios.
