2 NFTS Films Selected for Oscar-Qualifying Ottawa Animation Festival

Two NFTS graduation films - Pineapple Calamari directed by Katarzyna Nalewajka & produced by Daniel Negret and The Bigger Picture directed by Daisy Jacobs, produced by Chris Hees& co-written by Jennifer Majka - have both been selected for the Oscar qualifying Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF).

This is the largest event of its kind in North America, a major film event attracting attendees from around the world and runs from September 17-21st. The festival received 2033 entries and only 101 short films were chosen for competition.

Pineapple Calamari is one of only 8 films screening in the graduation category and The Bigger Picture is selected for the International Student Showcase. Congratulations to all of the filmmakers!

In addition, the following NFTS animated films have been selected for the following film festivals and won these prestigious awards - all in the past 2 months!

The Magnificent Lion Boy by Ana Caro, has been entered for official Selection at LUCAS International Children’s Film Festival in Germany!

Canuck Black by Rebecca Archer & My Stuffed Granny by Effie Pappa have both been selected for the Oscar qualifying Montreal World Film Festival!

The Bigger Picture by Daisy Jacobs wins Best Animated Film, Animated Screenplay & Achievement in Art Awards at Portsmouth Int' Film Festival.

The Bigger Picture, Miss Todd and Pineapple Calamari have all been selected for the Oscar qualifying Guanajuato International Film Festival!

Miss Todd by Kristina Yee wins the 'Overall Winning Film' at the Edinburgh Film Festival's Screen Academy Awards 2014.

My Stuffed Granny directed by Effie Pappa has been selected for the Oscar qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival !

My Stuffed Granny by Effie Pappa has won the McLaren Award at Edinburgh International Film Festival. Also at Edinburgh The Bigger Picture by Daisy Jacobs picked up the Award for Creative Innovation in a Short Film.

Mend and Make Do directed by Bexie Bush has won Best Student Film at the Palm Springs International Film Festival!

The Bigger Picture by Daisy Jacobs won the prestigious Crystal Award for Best Graduation Film at the Annecy Film Festival - the biggest animation festival on Europe.

First Light by Lilian Fu and The Bigger Picture by Daisy Jacobs, were selected for Hiroshima International Animation Festival!
