NFTS Games Design and Development student Bojan Brbora’s 2014 graduation video game ‘4pm’ has secured development funding from a private investor for its first episode.
And from June, the ‘short interactive experiential drama’ video game will be available to buy on Steam– the world’s biggest online store for PCs and Macs (http://store.steampowered.com). The meteoric success of the game is due to a massive public vote on the Steam website to ‘Greenlight’ the game. You can follow the game’s progress here www.4pmgame.com.
Working with NFTS Screenwriting graduate Stefan Kaday, Bojan has also been awarded £25,000 by the Wellcome Trust to develop a game to compliment the Wellcome Collection’s forthcoming History of Forensics exhibition.
Fellow 2014 NFTS Games graduate Albert Bentall, who designed and developed the ethereal riverboat exploration game Sandman for the Oculus Rift interactive headset (www.sandmanthegame.com), has now taken up a key role at Sony London studios – just months after graduating.
Albert has also been awarded the initial £10,000 for another project with the Wellcome Trust in partnership with fellow Sandman team members, NFTS Producing graduate Chris Hees and NFTS Screenwriting graduate Melissa Iqball.
And another 2014 NFTS Games graduate, Rich Metson, was invited to the Games for Change Festival in New York to present his grad project Off Grid (www.offgridthegame.com), which he created with fellow NFTS Games graduate Pontus Schonberg. The pair are currently in the process of securing further funding for the project and have formed an indie development partnership.
Finally, Xander MacLeod has teamed up with NFTS Entrepreneurial Producing for the Creative Industries (EPCRI) graduate Amy Mathieson to form the company Crest Games. Their first project is the digital version of Kickstarter card game sensation The Agents, which smashed its original Kickstarter target of $6000 by raising over $250,000.
